Frankincense has significant meaning in many religions including Hebrew where it is described as an incenses used in Ketoret ceremonies and in Christianity where it is believed to be one of the gifts offered by the three wise men to the newly born Jesus. Traditionally, aside from its use as an incense, Frankincense has been used in Africa and Asia for both digestion and healthy skin. In Ayurvedic medicine frankincense was used for purifying the air.
